“I really enjoyed Rally Ypres last year, it is for sure something special! It’s a great atmosphere at the rally, which you need to experience, it’s just incredible. Already before I competed at Ypres for the first time last year, I knew it is a very tricky rally, which you need tons of experience from to perform. It’s fast and most important, you have to stay away from the grueling ditches”.
First on the calendar though is Rally Italia Sardinia this week, in the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5. The rest of the 2019 WRC2 campaign will also be carried out in the Polo.
“Our main challenge this year is to win events in the WRC2 with the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5. But when this chance to drive a Hyundai i20 Coupe R5 suddenly was an option, then I had to do it. It will be very interesting to try out the car, but also it’s a big pleasure to drive the amazing Ypres stages again”
Ypres Rally takes place 28 – 29 June 2019.
