There are rough conditions awaiting Ole Christian Veiby this weekend when he competes at Rally Italia Sardegna. – I have good experiences from this event and I’m looking forward to competing with Skoda Motorsport again, says Ole, which will drive his WRC event number 30 this weekend.
The 21-year-old from Kongsvinger in Norway had his first appearance at Rally Italia Sardegna last year, and ended up with a very impressive second place in the WRC2.
– Last year it was all about getting through to have the experience and to get to know the stages. It worked well, so with that in mind I’m very positive this year. We are well prepared, and I now know a little bit about what to expect.
Rally Italia Sardegna is known to be one of the roughest events on the calendar and a very challenging one for both car and crew. Ole Christian and co-driver Stig Rune Skjærmoen will be car number 15 on the road when it all gets underway with a spectator stage on Thursday evening. The real action starts on Friday morning, with 8 stages run of the 20 in total.
– It’s important to use your brain, and be smart to avoid punctures. But we also have to be on it and keep the speed even though it will be rough and rocky. There are sections that are really fast, and some fun stages that are waiting for us, says Ole, who will be doing his third outing for Skoda Motorsport this weekend. Meaning they will fight for points in the WRC2 category. – It’s great to be back in the WRC2, I’m sure it will be a very exciting event. I believe my team-mate Jan Kopecky will be the strongest competitor, as he won here last year. But we will put on a good fight for him this year!
