Counting as the final event of the FIA Junior WRC, Wales Rally GB (27-30 Oct) were planned to be the last outing for Ole Christian Veiby and Stig Rune Skjærmoen with the DS3 R3 Max. With the future in mind, Veiby have decided to accept an offer to instead enter the Welsh round of the championship in a Skoda Fabia R5, run by Printsport.
Ole Christian Veiby says:
“As my main target this year was the JWRC, we planned to wrap up the season with a good result at Wales Rally GB. I have fantastic memories from our victory there last year! However, when the chance came for me to compete at Wales Rally GB in an R5, the decision was quite easy. This is a great opportunity, a huge step forward, and an investment in my future career. It has been a great experience competing in the JWRC for two seasons, and the next natural step after this, is for me to drive in the WRC2. Of course I would have preferred to finish up my JuniorWRC season in Wales Rally GB as planned, but this chance was too good to miss out on.”
After five of the six events in the FIA Junior WRC, Ole Christian Veiby and co-driver Stig Rune Skjærmoen are currently second in the overall standings.
