Veiby to fight for WRC2 podium at Wales Rally GB

2. Oct. 2018

Ole Christian Veiby looks forward to make his debut for Citroën in the WRC2 championship at this weekend’s WRC round in Wales. “It’s always exciting to drive a new car and we are well prepared” said Ole, who’s target is to finish on the podium in the overall championship.

This season, the Norwegian has competed under Skoda Motorsport’s flag, but will do the two last championship rounds for Citroën. The goal for the rallies in Wales and Spain is a podium finish in the WRC2 championship.

“Wales Rally GB is a rally I’m familiar with and this is my fifth start. That’s very positive considering the fact that this time I have a new car and a new team” said Ole, who won the WRC3 category in Wales behind the wheel of a Citroën in 2015.

“I have many good experiences with Citroën in the past” he said with a smile. He and co-driver Stig Rune Skjærmoen have two great test days in France and a test in Wales behind them and the 22-year-old can’t hide his excitement about his new Citroën C3 R5.

“The tests went really well. There are obviously some new things I have to get used to, but at the same time I felt that I understood the car. I have no doubts that there is amazing potential in this car. My goal is to finish on the podium in the championship and I think I have a fair chance to do so. This weekend is about getting a result as good as possible and beat my main competitors in the overall standings. With even more kilometers behind the wheel, I will be even better prepared for Rally Spain” said Ole.

The test days have been valuable when it comes to getting to know both the team and the car so that he can focus fully on doing his job.

“To put it this way, I’m highly motivated. I know what to expect. Wales is a special rally in many ways. Some of the stages I know since previous years while others are new. We are well prepared for it and ready to mix in with the top fight” said Ole.
