On to tarmac for our second round in the ERC. Rally Roma di Capitale kicked off with an amazing backdrop in the city of Rome. After some good progress on the Italian asphalt with the Hyundai i20 R5, we touched a concrete-block, damaged the radiator and were forced to retire.

First time in a world rally car, Rally Monza was set to be big task for Ole Christian Veiby, who normally drives an R5-car in the championship. On the final event of the season young Veiby and co-driver Jonas Andersson were given the opportunity, to compete with a Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC.

Ole Christian Veiby completed Rally Italia Sardegna second of the WRC 2 entrants after a weekend of highs and lows for the Hyundai Motorsport crew. Together with co-driver Jonas Andersson, he battled through numerous punctures over the weekend to finish 28.8-seconds from the eventual winner in his Hyundai i20 R5. He finished the 16-stage event second in the WRC 2 category, equalling his best result of the season from Rally Sweden earlier in the year.

Veiby and Andersson finished third on Saturday evening, despite having struggled with brake-problems early in the rally. – I’m pleased we managed to take 3rd in the end and secure important points for the team. But very disappointed the braking-problems kept us out of the fight for victory, Ole said after the finish.

Ole Christian Veiby got off to a great start at Wales Rally GB, but unfortunately, he was forced to retire already Friday morning. He restarted again on Saturday morning, and continued his positive attack, to set top 3 times on nearly all the remining stages.

After the fire-incident at Rally Portugal, Ole Christian Veiby had his eyes set on victory on the Mediterranean island. Unfortunately, the victory was hindered by car problems, but the young Norwegian still managed prove his talent in the car. – It didn’t quite turn out as we wanted, but at least we managed to show we can be both smart and fast when everything is working, Ole Christian says. He managed to be the fastest WRC2 car on 7 of the 19 stages.
